VTS Opinion of Use: Very rare scientific model with scarce features! This is a rare model! You won't find them often and when they do come up for auction, the prices are in the $650+ range AS IS! This has the DEN, NOM keys, 1/2 back space key, scientific key tops and the often missing four row scientific shuttle! Don't let this one pass you by! It may be years before you find another ;-)
The Hammond has a look all it's own! Actually the mechanics are quite unique as well. Hammond's used a type shuttle that would rotate left or right when a key was pressed. Then a hammer would strike from the rear of the machine and press the paper to the character. It was fast and left a great impression. The Multiplex used a two shuttle system, allowing the operator to switch font's in seconds. This one works but these aren't for regular use. The entire machine has been through the 3 hour process of cleaning, oiling, adjusting and testing.
