VTS Opinion of Use: Hard to find, Beautiful original condition and ready to type! The Remington was the beginning of the manufactured typewriter. The Model 7 is very comparable to the Model 2 and has a look and feel that lets you know you're typing on history. While you can use this every day, it is a Blind-Writer. You can't see what you're typing and have to lift the carriage to see how you're doing. It also lacks a backspace. This technology is where typewriters began! Finding one that looks this good and works this well is definitely a challenge. I'm still amazed at how well it types and how good the alignment of the type is compared to machines that are 20-30 years newer. I mean the key levers are made of wood..... wood! Don't even get me started on the factories where they were assembled. Working from lamp light and the natural light from the huge windows! Really impressive what they were able to accomplish.
So load a couple sheets of quality writing paper and send off a letter. If the recipient isn't impressed that you typed it on a writing machine from 1898, they're not worth a letter at all ;-) This one has been fully refurbished and is ready to type right out of the box. This is a consignment piece. Please see VTS News for more information. It has been fully degreased, cleaned, adjusted, oiled, tested and comes with a new ribbon installed. Over 3 hours of a hands on process performed over several days. It's ready to type right out of the box! Thanks for looking and please let me know if you have any questions about this beautiful, original vintage typewriter or need more pictures :-)
